The wisdom of a professional business guru….

Tom Antion continues to amaze me. He is so knowledgable in the world of internet marketing. His 60 tips in 60 minutes last night was content rich. He even “fessed up” to changing some techniques, that he always considered winners. Marketing tools  such as long copy sales letters, and dropping in video above the letters are now more marketable.

He even has a new book out, the 4th version of his multi “winning IT skills” book called “Click.” Better yet attend his in depth weekend program, to take your business to the next level. He has fondly dubbed his school, “Butt camp”….because he teaches you how to sit on your butt and generate passive income because of your products and programs.

Thanks Tom for your ongoing wisdom that you share with so many. Check out his “Im Not a Poodle” website to see how he approaches any market that is out there with a great product for you and a logical profit for him.

As a results of last nights seminar, I will be changing and upgrading my website thru your suggestions. I know the results will be phenomenal!

The power of networking…..successfully! Or….how I learned to overcome procrastination.

Sometimes it  seems that networking is waste of time. In fact I have a business card that I pass out and it says   “Is this the best use of my time?”

I pass it out to several people that I meet at events. Then when I  seem them later at a different event, I frequently hear from people that the card with that phrase is STILL taped to the front of their desk or computer.

Seriously,  just think of it. How well do you make use of your time?

I have always loved the wisdom of recognized business speaker Brian Tracy. His book “Eat That Frog“is one of my favorites. The gist of the book is that you should always do the worst thing first in the morning…and I mean the thing that you procrastinate over; you simply DO NOT WANT TO DO. But then it is DONE!  And Tracy then says, if you have two horrible things to do…do the worst thing first. He calls them “frogs.” Big and ugly green frogs that seem to control our life in so many ways.

Procrastination usually comes in the form of that “frog.”  We put off doing what needs to be done until we are pressured into doing it at last minute.

How often have you done that? In fact, might you even fall into that category called the “3 P’s?”

Packrat / Procrastinator / Perfectionist

If one is a procrastinator, they frequently will be a packrat keeping “important” things in their life, that they think they will use another time. Someday, somewhere…somehow. Yet when they do the task that they have put off doing…they do it extremely well. Because they are perfectionist. Wanting to be  in control at all times.

Quite frankly I am married to one. And it sure is taxing.

Some people are only 2 out of the “3 P’s.”

Which one are you? Especially when it comes to networking. This skill is critically important in running your business successfully. Meeting people who should know about your business, but you never get around to mingling with them OR  your target rich audience effectively. You observe other people doing that….but you attempt to and do NOT follow thru. Question yourself and find out what you are afraid of. Rejection, objections or possible acceptance?

Don’t be your own worst enemy. Get out there now…and just do it!

No wonder “Nike” uses that for a logo!

Share with me your thoughts!

Celebrate your success!

Well today is Grounds Hog day. I guess we are celebrating that there was no shadow and that winter will be over sooner than later. But at this rate, we have already had our complete share of winter in the Northeast.
This is a special day in our family….since it is not only Ground Hog day, but it is also my son’s 23rd birthday. So yes, we are celebrating!!
But that is personal, and I am now talking professional. You should be celebrating every time you make a presentation that is content rich, confident and credible.
By presenting your material that is engaging and rich with relatable stories, you will have your audience wanting to hear more!
This is YOUR journey of change.
This is YOUR journey of committing to discipline.
This is YOUR journey of practicing and knowing your material, so that IF there is an unexpected event during your presentation…you can get right back to your topic of expertise….and even BLEND in the unexpected event into your presentation.
Choosing to minimize your fear when you speak, gives you “a foot up” on feeling credible.
Because this is such a powerful fear, we drag these “chains of apprehension” with us…up to the podium.
Your state of mind is how you react to a Nationally recognized holiday, a family members birthday, or the positive sense of empowerment because your presentation was solid.
Break your presentation into 3 or 4 components. Open with a BANG! And close with a memorable point (that you have worked on) and bring your message home. Don’t say “Thank you for letting me present to you today”….for that is simply BORING. Remember you want to leave a message of credibility.
Be creative and thing of a closing line that your audience can relate to. And they will. And they WILL call you back.
Confident to credible is what you will become!
As a professional presentations coach, working with you to achieve this level is my objective. Leave the apprehension behind and celebrate your confidence.

How to successfully start a business even if it scares you!

Many of us will think of starting a new business but remain apprehensive of what to do. You can choose to do a multitude of strategies, and then narrow down what feels right to you. But you need some guidelines.
Feel comfortable and have a solid curiosity and passion about what you want to market! Even “rocks” can be sold at a profit. Yes I said rocks!

Several years ago, a smart entrepreneur came up with the idea of selling a “PET ROCK.” It came with a carrying container, and it had a little bed of “straw” in the inside, and it came with instructions of how to care for your brand new “pet rock.”

Their marketing into the fact that everybody needed and or wanted a pet. But many did not want the hassle or inconvenience of taking care of a pet. And Eureka…..this was the answer. You did not have to walk it, or feed it, or even pet it. You certainly could talk to it, and take it where ever you went. Because it did come with its’ own carrying case. People named their pet rocks, and it did make several million dollars of profit for the creator. Think about what your value proposition is for your product or service.

Lindsay Phillips, came up with the idea of “Switch Flops.” She created the idea of having sandals that could have interchangeable velcro tops for the sandals you owned. Color, texture and accessories made it veery versatile, inexpensive and very marketable.

She saw a market and a need and it worked. And she was only 24 when it went global and made her a multi-millionaire. Opportunities are out there in abundance and you probably have an idea that DOES have a niche market.

Take the time right now to right down 1 FEATURE OF YOUR PRODUCT….
and now write down 3 BENEFITS OF YOUR PRODUCT.
That is the ratio you want whenever you are marketing anything. What is in it for your customer. What and why should they buy your product, and not just once!

There is much more information to come on your next step marketing strategies. Accomplish these steps first…and remember, the “first sale” is to yourself as the internationally recognized entrepreneur Alan Weiss always says.

As a small business strategist and adjunct professor of marketing and communications, Strong Incentives knows what it takes to make your mark and make it profitably!

Stay tuned for more! It’s worth it.

The power of having confidence!

As we go thru life, there are several factors that affect our self esteem and confidence. And it can change daily, weekly or monthly. But it is a fact that your confidence will be challenged either professionally or personally.
A loss of confidence can be like a malignancy. It can eat at you and do long term damage, if you allow it. Self Esteem and confidence go hand in hand even though there is a difference between the two.

You have to take an approach of feeling in control, when you temporarily feel that someone has taken it away from you.
What are the circumstances that have just taken place, where you feel less about yourself. Where you in a group setting, where you were judged by your piers? Where you in professional environment and someone made a corrective criticism about something you just did?
Seriously the situations can and do go on and on, if we let them.
You MUST take a step back when you feel “threatened.” You must review what has gone on to cause that feeling. Nobody, but nobody wants to feel left out…ever. You didn’t want to be that kid who was chosen last on the line up for teams. Why?…because it simply made you feel unworthy. Like nobody cared. And that is where you have to take some responsibility for the rejection and find where y6ur strength is. Being judged by other people hurts. And nobody likes that.
I have frequently used with my clients a technique that is called Neural Linguistic Programing (N.L.P.) And this exercise has you taking a deep breath, pressing your thumb to the first finger on your hand and repeating the following sentence.
“I choose to be in control, feeling strong and confident is O.K. with me.” Say this sentence 1 finger at a time with conviction. Take your thumb and go thru your right hand then switch over to your left hand and repeat that sentence as you press your thumb to each finger….repeating it AND meaning it.
Talk it over with someone, if you are stressed by what has been done or said to you. JUST DONT IGNORE AND REPRESS IT…or you will continue to lose your confidence.
Trust me, you will continually have your confidence challenged thru out your life! Choose to take control and feel focused and crisply aware of your talents. Choose to live in the present and focus on the power of you. Just that alone can be a might challenge. No one but no one can live your life fully. You have the control and the choice to believe and accept yourself!
Look in the mirror and realize what a blessing you are in so many simple but necessary ways! My book “Who Stole My Confidence? 7 Rock Solid Steps To Take Yours Back!” is the right investment in your life at ANY stage!
