The late Henry Ford said…..”think you can,….think you can’t….either way you are right!
How many times have you felt you COULD do something, then the power of your mind either scared you away or the thought of something going wrong stopped you!
Seriously, how many times have you been your own worst enemy?
Personally and professionally…I just experienced it again yesterday.

One man was truly convinced that his was THE way to do something. And this man is knowledgable on how people can come to a compromise!
Except he couldn’t compromise himself. Talk about an oxymoron.
And as a result….long term damage was done.
Just think of the word compromise and what it all means. Have you ever had to compromise in a professional or personal setting, because someone could NOT compromise?
Now I have to go thru this awkward transition, not feeling comfortable with these upcoming conversations.
Have you ever had that happen to you?

Share your feelings with me. Let me know how you would handle this awkward transition.
The only term I can come up with is “Hypocrite” and the person is not even aware of it!
Seriously…..this is weighing on my “mind”…has it ever weighed on yours?

With all the constant social media, extra responsibilities at work, and less personal time….does it ever seem as if ” the rats” are winning?

Doesn’t it seem as if your 24 hour day keeps getting less less. Staying on top of all your professional and personal responsibilities seems to chisel away at it even more.
So who’s winning your race?
Staying on top of intentionally giving yourself “downtime” is critical. Otherwise you’ll continue to be sucked into that quagmire of taking on more, accomplishing most…..and then running out of time….(your time!”)
Personally, I have two friends that are down to their last several or few months. Depends on how aggressive their cancers continue to dominate their 60 year old body.
Whether you know about Dr. Kubler-Ross and her D.A.B.D.A. acronym….you should read this and understand it. Because this acceptance of end….is applicable not only to life….but to a relationship….a loss of job….loss of a pet….a house, etc.
Here are the steps:
D.enial  A.nger  B.argaining  D.epression  A.cceptance
Each of these stages you have already gone thru…and probably many, many times.
If you lose a job…immediately you go thru…

Denial…”what do you mean you’re letting me go?”
Anger…”.mad that you were the one to get released”
Bargaining….”what can I do to get my job back?”
Depression….”Oh no, oh no, oh no…why me?”
Acceptance….”I guess this is what is going to happen.”

So, who IS winning your rat race?
Even if you win….there will always be another bigger, faster, younger rat…no matter what!”
So pace yourself, enjoy your work, enjoy your life….and look forward to that treadmill continuously going round and round…and round.
In other words…..enjoy the ride!

Do you actually ever feel happy at work? Did you know that the average child smiles, smirks, giggles or laughs over 200 times a day! And the average adult only does that 10 to 20 times day! What happened?

As a Flight Attendant for the now defunct airline P.S.A, we were known as the “smiling airplane!” We meant for you to have fun when you flew us. As long as we got the FAA safety requirement information out to our passengers, the rest was going to be a memorable flight. And we made sure that it was.

Our uniforms were short and sexy and colorful. And it matched our personalities! Each and every day we had fun. We laughed, conversed and served all of our passengers. And we made each flight memorable.

I actually enjoyed going to work! But there was the downsize that we had to maintain a certain weight and upper thigh measurement….or we were fired. See if that would work in todays environment!
But your attitude of gratitude about life and work shows in everything that you do.

The fun and freedom of Christmas, of presents decorating have been so “politically corrected”….that the innocence, spontaneity and fun have faded! I would like to say, without even thinking about it “Merry Christmas!” That would be so refreshing! 

I know and respect the vast amount of religions in the world. And that is great. It has been that way for centuries. Let’s keep it that way. No one apprehensive of offending someone because you said “Merry Christmas.” if it is comfortable for your belief system….great. But quite frankly, we are all in this together. This is a small world in many ways. Here on the Jersey Shore we took a beating compliments of “Sandy.” It will take many, many months if not years to pick up the pieces. But we are ALL working together….to help one another. Whether you say “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Chanukah”…say it and mean it and enjoy the sincerity of saying it. We have a lot of damage all around us. We are all willing to help everyone heal….and that is what is so great about “mankind.” As we pickup the pieces, and put our lives back together. Let’s all take a deep breath, and enjoy the beauty of this day. Individually, each and everyday….every holiday….every event…every special moment of life! As a motivational speaker, I speak about change, and how we adapt to it, what we have to do to adapt to it. We are certainly going thru change now……and this is going to be a tough one, for a long time to come. But I will celebrate the beauty simplicity of Christmas the next several days…and enjoy every special moment! ImageAre you adapting and changing to your business environment by promoting yourself and speaking?

A chameleon has to adapt to his “changing” environment ALL THE TIME….as do you! By speaking and sharing your knowledge with your peers, customers or audiences, you deliver credibility every time! But you need to get out there and do it!

People have such a powerful limiting fear of being JUDGED on how they presented and what they did or did not say correctly. Well, you certainly know your material. Now you have to practice it and present it such an engaging way, that you will have people contacting you and WANTING TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU!

Like I said, you know your material….now build in relevant stories that pertain to that audience, or data that is relevant to your topic, and engage, excite and entice them to take notice! How you create that opening and closing line will possibly make or break or capability of making that sale.

Since the brain thinks in pictures….people are “drawing” conclusions about you ALL the time. You must be capable of adapting to their responses to your presentations and the results that you are creating and or offering them. Create a story that has a “call to action”…that wants them to buy your product or sign up for your newsletter. Be creative yet be professional and think that YOU want and will get their business. By putting that energy “out there”….you will inevitably have several responses. Seriously!
