How often have you  felt just simply comfortable when doing something. Well that happens to me whenever I work with the college students at Kean University. They are eager to learn, curious…always asking relevant questions….and always looking for the right answer. My objective is to give that to them every time I present to them.

Sometimes we get into such intense conversations….that we fuel off of each other and the time flies by. I have to work to bring it back to the topic for that specific class…but is it worth it.

I find college students incredible. They want to learn, they want to graduate….and they want to get a job that will inform them and pay them a decent salary. That can be the difficult part. It seems to be that those who have excelled in some form of Math and Engineering seem to command the best starting salaries. Not always…but both my nieces are making incredible salaries…and deserve it. One is in geology and working for Occidental and the other is an engineer and will be working for another oil company. To say the least….they are set for life.

How I wish more of the students that I meet are that blessed, disciplined…and yes…lucky!

The fact remains that you have to be able to communicate with confidence what you are looking for. You have to be hungry and you have to want to pursue a job. If you don’t….somebody else certainly will. You HAVE to communicate with confidence to yourself first. You have to realize that you are a marketable commodity, and you will be an asset to that company.

Communicate with credibility, clarity and confidence to yourself, the people you live with and the people you are “selling” yourself to. And with that attitude it will come across successfully. This will come with age, and with additional experience. But you simply have got to be able to believe it yourself. People can sense if you have self doubt. So crank  up your self confidence, believe it and reap the benefits.

The payback will be worth the investment. Choose no longer to feel that you are a victim of the recession, or the competition…or that other person vying for that job. Believe that you are it. Present with confidence…and believe it…completely!
