Got confidence?

Whatever stage in life you might be at, your confidence can be challenged at anytime.
Whether you are in negotiations for a job, promotion or a pay raise, you will probably question yourself. Possibly you will have second thoughts while it is taking place, or more so, you will question yourself after the event is over with.
It will be inevitable that you will have some slight doubt that you may have said something wrong.
This is natural and this is healthy. Be cautious though. You can be your own worst enemy very easily, in your journey of wanting to see only the best results. The best approach is addressing this issue to rehearse your thoughts and your actions!
Review what questions you would ask, if the roles where reversed?
Seriously play it out in your mind. We tend to “beat ourselves up afterwards”…and we do it quite well. Instead, because you were prepared; because you anticipated potential questions or topics. And because of that, no matter what direction the conversation went….you were comfortable. You had confidence. You felt good.

When you carry that strong belief system with you, there is a presence to you. And other people know it.
It might be subtle…but it is to your advantage.

Yes, confidence takes practice. Feeling good about yourself is a constant journey. And it is up to you to control it. Seriously….it is.
Otherwise, fear will take over. Even in the smallest amounts. And then you begin to question yourself again.
Talk it out loud how you want to sound, how you want to look. Get comfortable with it. Take just a few actions and practice them. Then do it again….and again. At a certain point, it will feel comfortable. But it is up to you take the first small step.
This is an investment in yourself and your future. Make it a worthy one. Believe in you and believe in the positive outcome that YOU can generate.

The constant journey of keeping and maintaining your confidence.

How many times have you felt confident about yourself for the existing moment….and then someone tells you “NO” about your idea, or a project you were working on, or a date went wrong and they do not want to see you again…..the list can go on and on. Confidence is a sensitive area for all of us. We always seek the welcoming experience of pleasure (in all forms) and want to avoid pain (of all forms.)
This journey of life takes us thru this roller coaster of emotions on a daily basis….doesn’t it?
Think about the simple things. You see an article of clothing and you like it…till you try it on, and can’t believe how lousy you look in it. The spiral continues down from there…as you look at yourself in that 3 way mirror, being your own worst judge. C’mon….you’ve been there. And you have been there more than once.
As a professional speaker, I am very comfortable in front of audiences. It has always been a natural feeling for me….and I love it to this day. Yet every time I watch myself on video….the criticizing takes place with such force.
Each time I make a slight change, a pause, a sentence or even a story. Always wanting to improve…which is good, but boy can this be tough. Especially when you thought you were doing so well!
I have several speaking engagements coming up, and each one becomes a challenge of how I can make it better.
That also happens when I work with people making their presentation better. They want to be able to feel good about their speech, but have already given themselves a “death sentence” of failure. They think that they cannot make it a great presentation, long before they are even in front of their audience!
Always remember the art of practice.  Your speech, or toast, or leading a meeting in the future, practice it  in front of a mirror or your pet. Just feel comfortable enough so that when it IS your time to “shine” you do so with confidence.
Hey you have heard it before….. the “practice makes perfect”…well it does!
Professional athletes practice for hours on end to keep their game at a highly effective level. So can you.
Making a sales presentation is a matter of words and credibility being present with every move and every sentence….but also remember one important component.
LISTEN.
Combine all of those skills and you will be composed, confident and skilled.
Your sales skills will improve.
Your presentation skills will improve.
Your level of confidence in yourself will improve too.

How frustrating is Tax Day in your life?

April 15th will be here and gone within a blink of the eye.
Either you will have waited till the big day in fear or have already filed an extension.
But the inevitable….is just that.
Do you wait for your return…to live off for the next few months. This economy is messing with all of us and we are hurting. Is your money what you will live off of the next month or two?
How do you feel instead of the government sending monies to all the bankrupt companies…..how about sending a $10,000 check to every citizen in America. We could then spend it and truly generate the country by bringing it back to life!
Seriously, think about it.
When America comes back out of recession #12 since the great depression….it will be the smaller stores of our country that will take the longest to bounce back.
Suzie Orman, says that we will have financial highs and lows for the next 6 years. Also she now says that we should no longer pay off our credit cards….but to STASH OUR CASH!”

Americans are being sent mixed signals.
Watching your 401 continue to falter.
But whatever cash you do have, spend it and restumulate this hurting economy.
Even America is being blamed for the worlds recession.
We are like the “leader of the pack” with a bullseye on our side.
C’mon guys…..give us a break.
This greed on Wall Street and in the hallways of these major banks, was the catalyst.
Give us time and we will be back…and we will be stronger.
Oh and yes there will BE another recession after this one.
Because life goes on…….
Carpe Diem guys……
Pay your taxes, or wait for your refund….but keep the attitude that keeps you going. This is your gig.
Turn off the TV, the NPR or the Wall Street Journal.
Sit on the porch, talk to a neighbor and enjoy the day. It’s yours. There are no refunds on this day. It is just yours. Make it right for you!
